CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College students learned about in-water survival training for their maritime basic safety training course.
The training is part of the Del Mar College Corporate Services’ five-day program where fifteen students learn about emergency water safety techniques, and necessary survival skills in case they must enter the water due to an emergency.
“Right now this is the only course Del Mar College is offering but we are opening to build up because this is a brand new program that we started the maritime program we are hoping to add on additional classes to that,” program coordinator Jailyn Stineman said.
Lessons included how to correctly put on an immersion suit, working around life rafts, and how to flip the life raft over in case it has turned upside down.
